Community design applications (RCD)
European procedure (EUIPO)
Applying for a Community design at EUIPO
Community designs are registered in the European Union in accordance with the Council Regulation (EC) 6/2002 of 12 December 2001 on Community Designs. One of the key principles of EU industrial property law is the uniform character of the Community design. The uniform character of a Community design means that it is protected as a whole throughout the EU, i.e. also in Poland.
The application for a registered Community design may be filed directly at the European Union Intellectual Property Office or through the Patent Office of the Republic of Poland. If all the requirements pertaining to the application have been met, the Office will enter the design into the register of Community Designs and publish the registered design in the Bulletin of Community Designs. This procedure lasts approximately one month.
